PM Modi’s rally in Pune: Cops ban use of drone, aerial gadgets for safety

Only equipment used by the police machinery for aerial surveillance are excluded from the order.

The Pune city police have banned the use of drones, paragliders, parameters, hang gliders, hot air balloons, micro light aircrafts for maintaining safety and security during Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s rally in the city on November 12.

PM Modi’s rally will be held at the S P College ground to campaign for BJP candidates and other alliance partners of the party in the ‘Mahayuti’, who are contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police, issued an order to this effect stating that drones, paragliders, parameters, hang gliders, hot air balloons, micro light aircrafts and similar gadgets should not be used in the jurisdiction of Pune city police till November 12, to prevent any untowards incidents during PM Modi’s visit.

Only equipment used by the police machinery for aerial surveillance are excluded from the order. Police have warned that it would take strict action as per Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against those violating the order.
