Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Naturopathy Hospital in Yewalewadi in Pune on Sunday. He also remotely inaugurated a new Ayush facility of the District Hospital in Aundh.
The 250-bedded hospital in Yewalewadi has an academic hospital, research unit yoga hall, as well as residential and hostel buildings. A press release issued by the National Institute of Naturopathy said the facility is an apex-level yoga and naturopathy Institute and is dedicated to develop evidence-based yoga and naturopathy treatment for several non- communicable diseases.
The centre will facilitate a holistic approach wherein modifiable risk factors for these diseases can be acted upon through yoga and naturopathy, thereby reducing the risk factors associated with these diseases.
The centre will conduct short-term fellowship courses in yoga and naturopathy, skill-based courses in wellness, UG, PG and PhD courses in future. The centre will cater to management of non-communicable diseases using yoga and naturopathy interventions.
The PM also inaugurated a 30-bedded Ayush facility at the Aundh district hospital. Under the PM Ayushman Bharat scheme, a 100-bedded critical care unit would be constructed in the premises of the Aundh district hospital. The ground breaking ceremony (bhoomi poojan) of the same was also done remotely by PM Modi.
The total cost for the Ayush facility in Aundh is slated to be Rs 8.99 crore while the estimated cost of the critical care facility will be Rs 40.05 crore.
