‘Opportunists leading youth to Naxalism’

State Legislative Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse Patil released a book titled Sangharshatun Sansadiya Rajkarnakade,based on Jaidev Gaikwad’s completion of a year as MLC,here recently.

The programme was jointly organised by organised by Samajik Nyay Parishad and NCP at S M Joshi Hall. Pune Mayor Chanchala Kondre,MLA Sharad Ranpise,MHADA Chairman Ankush Kakde,Prof Yashwant Sumant and senior journalist Arun Khore were present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion,Walse Patil said: “Certain opportunists groups are deviating youth towards communal hatred and some to Naxalism to spread their own agenda. Today,one third of the country’s land is occupied by Naxalites. This is a very serious issue and needs to discuss on a parliamentary forum and in public on urgent basis.”

Gaikwad said: “The responsible post of MLC is not for me as an individual but is a justice done to the Ambedkarite thinking. We will continue to spread the secular thinking spearheaded by Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar and reach out to the underprivileged.” Yashwant Sumant spoke on “Bhartiya Ghatnawad che swarup an awahane”,stressing on making society more secular by imbibing a sense of equality in real sense.

“The MRTP (Maharashtra Regional Town Planning) Act has been in existence for many years now. But due to lack of timely amendments,many illegal constructions have mushroomed in PMC & PCMC areas. A committee comprising secretaries of departments concerned has been set up. The report has been submitted to the government and soon a decision will be taken,” said Walse Patil.
