Sule demanded a reply from BJP on an article in RSS publication that linked BJP's poor show in LS polls to its alliance with NCP.

A day after BJP declared its plan to launch Samvad Yatra across in Maharashtra ahead of Assembly elections, NCP (SP), working president Supriya Sule on Wednesday urged the saffron party to first clarify its stand on corruption and corruption allegations leveled by it against other party leaders in the past few years.

BJP leaders should respond to public concerns on corruption and allegations leveled against leaders of other political parties, including its alliance partners,” said Sule, when asked about BJP’s plans to take out a rally in the state.

RSS also recently aired concern over corruption in the state and the organisation’s magazine (Vivek) has attributed BJP’s poor performance in LS polls to its alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, she said.

Sule demanded the BJP’s response on issues raised by RSS and its publication. The Baramati MP was referring to the latest issue of RSS-linked Marathi weekly, which spoke about resentment among the party cadre against NCP coming on board unlike BJP’s ‘natural’ alliance with Sena that was rooted in Hindutva.

Sule, daughter of NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar, said the state government was declaring sops ahead of Assembly elections, at a time when Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has flagged the state’s grim financial situation. “The state government should assure the public that its schemes are not merely an election stunt,” she added. The NCP (SP) leader also said that the state government was not taking stern action against the rising crime in the state.
