Students of classes 9 and 10 of Muktangan English School who study the German language bagged several prizes at the German Film Festival organised by Max Muller Bhavan (Pasch) recently by displaying of their linguistic and comprehension skills. It was held from August 28-30.
Around 150 students of the school attended the fest and were treated to an array of films in German. The fest was aimed at creating a taste in the language and giving students exposure to German culture.
The participants were quizzed at the end of the screening on their understanding of the films through a questionnaire that tested their comprehension and language skills. As many as 108 students of the school won various prizes.
The annual fest was screened at National Film Archives Institute by Pasch for over 1,000 students pursuing the language at citys colleges and schools associated with Pasch. Students of Max Muller Bhavan also participated in the festival.
Inter-School Open Roller Skating competition organised
State Inter-School Open Roller Skating competition was held on September 22 at Hadapsar. Around 13 schools participated in the contest that was organised by Channel Mad.
Over 100 students from various schools participated in beginners,quad and inline races.
As many as 12 students from RIMS,International School and Junior College participated in the competition,of which six of them won medals and helped the institute bag the overall championship trophy as well.

World Peace Day observed by Euro School
World Peace Day was observed by Euro School,Wakad at Reliance Mall,Aundh,on September 21. Students staged street plays depicting the five elements of life and how countries were fighting against each other in the name of religion.
Students enacted the slow destruction of harmony and equilibrium of the earth . Students said they had hope that the world would soon be a peaceful place to live in.
We urge everyone to not let the world be broken down by narrow domestic walls, students said.
The participants also sang songs on peace and urged people through their dance drama to give peace a chance.
City lad makes it to national-level u-14 cricket contest
Ninad Sawant,a class 8 student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Paranjape Vidya Mandir,was selected for the national-level cricket competition for boys in the under-14 category. The contest is being organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services,Government of India,in association with School Games Federation. The six-day competition will conclude on October. It is being held in Srinagar.
School headmistress Philomena Gaikwad,secretary prof Nandkumar Kakirde and staff extended their wishes to Sawant.
Ganpati festival celebrated in Ambegaon school
Ganpati festival was celebrated by Abhinav Education Society English Medium School and Junior College,Ambegaon,from September 9 to 13.
During the five-day celebrations,color week ,music competitions,hawan and dance contests were organised at the school. Each day had a particular colour code as the theme.
In the music competition,students sang various ganpati songs. Children brought modaks for the hawan.
On the last day of the visarjan,several dances were performed. An eco-friendly visarjan was held. Society president Rajiv Jagtap and Principal Varsha Sharma also participated in the celebrations.
Rights of children,impact of abuse discussed
On September 24,Enriching Minds was organised for parents of classes 3 and 4 by counsellors Shubhada Karnik and Archana Nigund.
Shirish Inamdar,ADC,SID,MS Mumbai,delivered the key note address. He spoke on Sexual abuse against children and Internet safety. He discussed the rights of children,impact of abuse ,exploitation rate of our country and Indian Penal Codes for various types of child abuses.
He guided parents on how they should deal with such kind of situations. Parent should support their children in such cases, Inamdar said. He also apprised the parents of the dangers of misuse of the internet.
As children are made targets in adult sites,parents should be keep an eye of their children and monitor the browse history of sites visited by their children.
