Twelve people were injured after two buses of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) were involved in a head-on collision in Pune district on Friday morning, allegedly due to the brake failure of one of the buses.

According to Sandip Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, one of the state transport buses, going to Beed from Shriwardhan, broke down due to brake failure at Chachavli village in Mulshi around 9 am and collided.

Due to the defective brakes, the driver had veered the bus onto the right side of the road, colliding head-on with another state transport bus going to Raigad from Chinchwad, said the officer.

A police team rushed to the spot on getting the alert and shifted the injured people to the Paud Rural Hospital in Mulshi.

The police have launched an investigation into the case.
