Man bites off wife’s finger in fit of rage in Pune district, arrested

The police said they suspect that the accused was under the influence of alcohol while committing the crime

PuneThe police have arrested the accused, Suraj Hiralal Paswan, 40.

A man bit off his wife’s finger during a quarrel at their residence in Khed taluka of Pune district on Saturday.

The injured wife, identified as Sanju Paswan, 35, lodged the FIR in this case at the Alandi police station.

The police have arrested the accused, Suraj Hiralal Paswan, 40, under Section 117 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

As per a press release issued by the police on Sunday, Sanju Paswan works as a labourer at a private company. Her husband Suraj Paswan had a quarrel with their son at their residence on Saturday afternoon. When she intervened to stop the quarrel, Suraj Paswan allegedly bit off a portion of the ring finger of her right hand.

Bhima Narke, senior police inspector, Alandi police station, said, “We arrested the husband, Suraj Paswan. He was remanded in judicial custody by the court. Further investigation is on.”

The police said the accused worked as a tile fitting worker. They suspect he was under the influence of alcohol while committing the crime.
