Activists of Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sena (BVS),the students wing of the Shiv Sena,on Saturday held demonstrations in front of the offices of Australian Education Student Services in Model Colony and Instititute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) on Bhandarkar Road in protest against the attacks on Indian students Down Under.
A group of BVS members shouted slogans and tore down the hoarding of Australian Education Student Services located in Eden Hall building. On receiving the information,a team of Chatushringi police station rushed to the spot.
Shekhar Fulzele (23),the security guard at Eden Hall building,said a group of around 12 activists shouted slogans and brought down the hoarding. He said the agitators did not attack any person. Meanwhile,the BVS members painted the doors of ICFAI office with saffron colour.
Ajay Shinde,city president of BVS,said,Australian Education Student Services has tieups with 14 Australian varsities. ICFAI runs a course in collaboration with an Australian university. Organisations working as educational consultants for them should sever links with Australia till the attacks on Indians end.
In a press release,the BVS said the agitation will continue till the demands of Federation of Indian Students in Australia were met. The Chaturshringi police contacted the authorities of Australian Education Student Services and ICFAI and recorded statements of eyewitnesses. Police inspector Madhav Chavan of Chaturshingi police station said a non-congnisable offence has been registered.
