Till Monday,94 complaints were registered by students about the junior colleges allotted to them through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).
We got 94 complaints of which 37 are from girls. Many of them were about change of college. In cases where girls have been allotted colleges far from their homes,we have tried to help them get admission in nearby colleges, said Suman Shinde,Deputy Director,Pune Region.
In other cases,students have asked for a transfer from unaided to aided division. In genuine cases and if we have found seats in the desired colleges,we have helped students get admission. Students can also apply directly to individual colleges as the CAP round is over, he added.
My home is in Kharadi and I have been offered a college in Sangvi,which is very far. Even getting a bus till there is impossible. Hence,I have come to apply for a change of college, said a girl student,who did not wish to be named.
Most of the cases are not genuine as students want renowned colleges even if their marks are less. We do not entertain such entries. There are hardly 10 applications from students who could not apply directly in CAP due to various reasons and have now applied. In all genuine cases,we call up the colleges and ask them if seats are available. If they are,we allot seats on the spot, said an official.
Opening a new division requires a lot of things like inspection of infrastructure,teachers salary,etc. Till now,the government has not given any proposal to increase the seats, added the
official.
