Anticipating heavy crowds during the year-end festivities, the Central Railway (CR) has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets in Pune and 13 other major stations.
The restrictions, effective from 12 noon on December 29 until January 2, are aimed at easing congestion on platforms and ensuring smoother movement for passengers.
The affected stations include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, and Panvel in the Mumbai Division; Pune in the Pune Division; Nagpur in the Nagpur Division; Nashik Road, Bhusaval, and Akola in the Bhusaval Division; and Solapur, Kalaburagi, and Latur in the Solapur Division.
Senior citizens and those with medical needs are exempted from these restrictions to ensure ease of travel. Central Railway has urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly, and said the measure seeks to ensure a safer and more comfortable travel experience during the festive period.
