19-yr old dies after bike crashes into parked trailer in Panvel

According to the police officials, the deceased, Jayendra Pawar was a resident of sector 51 in Uran and was on his way to work when the incident took place.

A 19-year-old youth died after his bike collided with a stationary trailer in Panvel on Tuesday. The police said that the driver of the trailer has been booked for negligence as he illegally parked his vehicle on the side of the road which caused the accident.

According to the police officials, the deceased, Jayendra Pawar was a resident of sector 51 in Uran and was on his way to work when the incident took place. His father Raghu said, “My son was employed with a civil contractor and was currently working in the construction of the Navi Mumbai airport.”

On Tuesday, he left home at around 9 am and as the family did not hear from him till afternoon, they started contacting him.

“Since he began working, he had a practice of calling us every time after he reached his workplace. On Tuesday, he did not call. And so we started calling him. When he did not answer our calls, we inquired with my younger son in Hyderabad,” said the father.

He further added, “As he had shared his live location with his brother after leaving the house, my younger son told me that he was on the road near Gavanpada in Panvel.”

The 57-year-father then reached the location and found blood stains on the road, after following the blood trail, he reached police officials who informed him that his son was injured in a collision and was admitted in the government hospital in Panvel. Acoording to police, Pawar succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the hospital.

“We rushed there and identified him. We later took his remains in our custody and conducted final rites,” said Raghu.

Senior police inspector Nitin Thakre of Panvel police station said, “We have registered a case against the driver of the trailer identified as Sanjay Kumar Singh and had detained him. We allowed him to go after serving him a notice.”

In another instance, an accident was reported at around 6.30 pm on Mumbai’s JJ flyover, after a driver of a school bus identified as Lalu Kumar Santu lost control over the vehicle and ended up colliding with a divider.

An officer said, “There were around 18 students in the bus, when Santu tried to overtake a vehicle on the flyover. He then lost control over the wheels and crashed against the divider due to which two 12-year-old students and the cleaner of the bus sustained injuries.”

“They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are being treated. Santu in the meantime was served notice and was allowed to go as per the provision of the CrPC,” an officer added.
