Family members of Sadak 2 actor Chrisann Pereira, who was framed in a drug case, jailed and eventually acquitted by a Sharjah court, are upset that she still has not received permission to fly back to India. Chrisann has been in Sharjah since April 1 and is yet to receive her passport, which was seized upon her arrest.

“We have been informed by the jail that the passport has been sent to a committee to decide if she can return. This process can take one or two months more. The case has been shut in court yet we have to wait for this long,” Chrisann’s brother Kevin said.

“My sister is losing her mental health day by day… anyone would. It’s really unfair after being proven innocent, what she and we are going through. We have asked the Indian embassy to intervene and help us,” he added.

The Mumbai police earlier this week filed a chargesheet in the case, providing evidence of how Chrisann was allegedly framed by one Anthony Paul and two others. Paul was upset over a fight with Chrisann’s mother and decided to take revenge, the police said. He then allegedly put narcotics in a trophy and gave it to Chrisann while she was flying to Sharjah and tipped off the authorities.

Earlier, Chrisann’s mother Premila told the media that they have sent psychiatric medication to her to help her deal with the situation. Premila said that she would be visiting Sharjah for the third time to be by her daughter’s side.
