Won’t stop at Munde’s resignation, says Opposition; Patole wants privilege motion against CM

Awhad says ‘stone-hearted’ govt exposed itself, Aaditya questions delay in action

Despite the resignation of Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dhananjay Munde, the Opposition on Tuesday slammed the state government over the delay of almost three months in throwing Munde out of the cabinet and demanded that everyone linked to the murder be made co-accused in the case of Massajog village sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.

Senior Congress MLA Nana Patole said that he will bring breach of privilege motion against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the legislative Assembly. “The Chief Minister broke the protocol and went to meet Ajit Pawar on Monday night. It means that the government was well aware about the incident, which was kept hidden till today. The CM provided false information to the House during the Winter Session,” said Patole.

He added that Fadnavis should have made the announcement of Munde’s resignation in the House and not in front of the media. “This is an insult of the House and we will bring breach of privilege motion against him,” he said.

NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad who has been raising the issue since the beginning, said that the stone-hearted government exposed itself after it took more than 80 days for the resignation of Munde.

“Despite seeing such horrific photos, the government did not sack Munde. He submitted his resignation through his PA. Imagine, how stone-hearted this government is,” said Awhad.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA and former minister Aaditya Thackeray said that the state government should be dissolved considering the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “We will not stop at resignation. It is time that the entire government is dissolved. The law and order situation is deteriorating, crimes are increasing,” said Thackeray, asking why did it take so long for the resignation.

“As a chief minister, he had every bit of information about the case. Who was stopping from taking action till now? Every party, including the ruling side, had raised the issue but no action was taken. Every person linked to this case should be prosecuted and punished. Maharashtra is watching in ancticipation, seeking justice,” said Thackeray.
