Won’t tolerate goondaism: CM

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has praised Mumbaikars for defying Shiv Sena threats over My Name Is Khan and said the government would maintain law and order with a firm hand.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has praised Mumbaikars for defying Shiv Sena threats over My Name Is Khan and said the government would maintain law and order with a firm hand.

“In the past few days,attempts were made by certain parties and organisations to disturb law and order in some parts of the state,” Chavan said on Saturday,“But the law and order situation will not deteriorate and we won’t tolerate goondaism.”

He further stated that the government had prevented any untoward incident from taking place in the state and the police,along with Home Minister R R Patil and Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagve,were maintaining a strict vigil.

Referring to people turning out to watch MNIK despite Shiv Sena’s agitation,Chavan lauded them for showing that they could defy threats.
