The decomposed body of an unidentified woman, believed to be in her late thirties, was found stuffed inside a suitcase on the banks of Desai Creek near the Palava area in Thane district on Monday.

Police said prima facie it appears that she was throttled to death.

“Prima facie, the woman was strangled to death and the body was stuffed in a suitcase for disposal at the creek,” Shil-Daighar police station senior inspector Shriram Pol said. A case of murder has been registered, he added.
