Sameer Wankhede complains after ‘threats’ from Bangladesh Insta user

The 2008-batch Indian Revenue Service officer Wankhede, is currently facing a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR for allegedly trying to extort money from actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer and former zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai, Sameer Wankhede, has submitted a complaint to the Mumbai Police after receiving “death threats” from an Instagram user, believes to be from Bangladesh. The Mumbai’s Goregaon police are looking into the matter.

Sources said that Wankhede, currently posted in Chennai, received direct messages from the Instagram user on Monday, after which he wrote an email to the Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar. The Goregaon police may register an FIR in the case, a police officer said.

Wankhede headed the Cordelia cruise drug bust operation on the night of October 2, 2021, and led a team of officers to raid the cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

The agency arrested 17 people, including Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan. Later, an high level inquiry found that Aryan was allegedly framed.
