Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday said that NCP president Sharad Pawar is using guerrilla warfare tactics to fight against Ajit Pawar-led NCP legislators who rebelled against him and joined the state government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and BJP.

Raut said that there are different tactics to fight a war and even as Sena (UBT) has chosen to fight its war on the battlefield, Sharad Pawar-led NCP has chosen guerrilla warfare tactics to fight against Ajit Pawar and his associates.

“There are different tactics to fight a war. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Shiv Sena is fighting a war on the battlefield with those who have wronged us, betrayed us to join BJP. But Sharad Pawar and his associates have adopted guerrilla warfare tactics to fight against those who have left the party,” he said.

Reacting to Sharad Pawar’s statement, Raut said there is no confusion about his stand and that he nowhere said Ajit Pawar is the party leader.

“I have heard Sharad Pawar’s statement. He said that there is no split in his party but he has not said anywhere in his statement that Ajit Pawar is his leader. Sharad Pawar is the Bhishma Pitamah of Maharashtra politics and of this country and he has a reputation in the country. He is with MVA and INDIA alliance and there is no confusion about it,” Raut said.

Sanjay Shirsat of Shinde-led Sena, however, said that Raut is also changing his stand everyday about Sharad Pawar as Sharad Pawar is changing his statements everyday.

“Sanjay Raut is changing statements like Sharad Pawar. It is true that the MVA is not intact now. But they are not willing to accept it,” Shirsat said.

In Baramati on Friday, Pawar said that some leaders have left NCP by taking a “different political stand” but it cannot be termed as a split. “Ajit Pawar is our leader. There is no dispute about it,” he said. A day earlier, NCP MP Supriya Sule too had said that there was no split in the party.

Indirectly hinting at Sharad Pawar’s flip-flops on Ajit Pawar, Raut said that if anyone was trying to sail in two boats at a time, the people of Maharashtra would decide what to do with them.
