Amid the ongoing impasse over the government formation, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan on Monday and discussed the state’s political situation.
“We discussed with him about the political situation in the state,” said Raut while talking to reporters. Terming it a courtesy visit, Raut said he gifted a book on Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray’s cartoons and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s two photographic books. Raut met the governor at 5 pm, and the meeting went on for about half an hour.
“We only told him that the government needs to be formed at the earliest and we (Sena) are not the hurdle in government formation. We explained the situation before him. We don’t know why there is a delay in government formation,” Raut added.
“You will get to know at right time,” said Raut in response to a question on whether Sena has the numbers to form the government if BJP fails to do so. He also refused to comment on BJP’s offer of sharing equal power minus CM post.
On the speculations of Sena’s new demand of making someone else CM from BJP other than Devendra Fadnavis, Raut said, “We have not made such demand and nobody has come and said this to us.”
Sena leaders said that Raut went to Thackeray residence Matoshree to brief Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray about his meeting with the governor.
