Shiv Sena (UBT) MP and chief party spokesperson Sanjay Raut Wednesday said sedition charges should be slapped on netizens who recently shared controversial social media posts on Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan.
Raut further said ‘devotees’ of Aurangzeb have no right to stay in the state as well as in the country and should “go to Pakistan”.
“Today I am speaking from Sambhaji Nagar (earlier known as Aurangabad). This is the place where we have buried Aurangzeb. If there are any bhakts (devotees) of Aurangzeb and if they are showing photos of Aurangzeb and dancing, then they have no right to stay in this country. They should immediately go to Pakistan. This was the stand of Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray and Shiv Sena and we are firm on it,” Raut said.
Seeking immediate and stern action against those who put up the alleged controversial messages on their social media status, Raut added, “They should be booked under charges like sedition. I challenge the BJP to show that courage and act immediately.”
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also slammed the BJP over the issue and asked how such things can happen when a ‘Hindutvawadi’ government is in power in the state.
“It is the government of Shinde and Fadnavis who claim themselves to be staunch Hindus. Then how can someone get the courage to glorify Aurangzeb? It is shameful that despite having a Hindutvawadi government, these instances are taking place. Isn’t it a failure of the government? Or are you (the BJP-Shinde government) doing it? We should get answers,” Raut said.
Claiming that there were no riots during the regime of Uddhav Thackeray, he said, “Why is it happening now? Riots have been going on for the past six months. Whose conspiracy is this?”
