Sahakar Samvad, an online complaint platform dedicated to cooperative housing societies’ members in Maharashtra, which was launched in October this year, has so far received over 850 complaints of which 279 have been resolved, officials claimed.

The majority of complaints received have been from Mumbai.

Operated by the Maharashtra State Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd, representing over 1,25,000 housing societies and 30 million members, this platform charges a nominal fee of Rs 50 per complaint. It caters to 24 common grievances, such as issues with share certificates, fund misappropriation, election failures, and general body meeting lapses.

Once filed, complaints are automatically directed to the relevant Co-operative Societies’ Registrar level, with higher officers overseeing the resolution process. Additionally, complainants can track their grievances’ status in real-time, said a Maharashtra State Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd official.

This online system replaces the traditional in-person visits to registrar offices, streamlining the process for around 1.15 lakh cooperative housing societies, reducing paperwork, and eliminating the need for physical office visits.
