In view of High Court’s directive,New Year revellers will find it difficult to party at their favourite haunts around Yeoor Hill in neighbouring Thane.

The High Court on Wednesday directed the director of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park to make sure that no outside vehicles enter Yeoor after sunset. The hill, near Thane city,is surrounded by Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Chandrakant Jadhav and a few other residents of the village had made an application in the High Court seeking ban on traffic after sunset, pleading that it puts “flora and fauna” of the area in danger.

Their original petition relates to unauthorised bungalows and hotels in Yeoor.

The court on Wednesday granted relief which means that only those who are residents of Yeoor would be able to enter and stay after sunset. The forest officers have been directed to remove the vehicles violating this rule.

Exception will be made for government servants, personnel of armed forces, police, and their official vehicles.
