Terming the state budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Monday as “deceiving” and “bogus”, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi accused the state government of not fulfilling any promises made by it during the Assembly polls.
“No promises made by the government in the manifesto have been fulfilled in the budget. This is a bogus budget. Such a bogus budget has not been presented by any government in the past many years,” Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray said while speaking to media after the budget in the state legislature building.
Sena UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray also accused the government of not including any of the poll promises in the budget. “Once again it proves that the BJP knows that their Maharashtra govt was elected due to the blessings of the Election Commission, not the people of Maharashtra,” he said.
Congress leader Nana Patole said that the budget has made it clear that the Mahayuti has deceived the farmers, sisters and youth of the state.
“Not a single promise made by the Mahayuti in the elections has been fulfilled in the budget. Therefore, it is clear that the Mahayuti has deceived the people. The Economic Survey Report itself revealed that the Mahayuti has degraded the state. Today, the government has confirmed it through the budget,” Patole said.
“The revenue deficit and fiscal deficit have increased. Therefore, there is doubt whether the announcements made in the budget will be fulfilled or not. Announcements are being made only for publicity. Like the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, empty announcements have been made,” he said.
The Congress leader also alleged that there is no policy or concrete action programme in the budget on issues like inflation and unemployment.
“Therefore, it does not seem that the government is serious about these issues. There is nothing in this budget for Maharashtra beyond Mumbai, Thane and Pune, for the rural areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha. This is a directionless budget without any concrete announcements for the future of the state and for the benefit of the people,” Patole said.
NCP(SP) leader Jayant Patil said that poor and middle class have been ignored in the budget.
“This government has broken the tradition of presenting a surplus budget in the past few years. Now it is affecting everyone, especially the schemes of the tribal and social justice departments. There are announcements of numerous bridges and tunnels for those who are going to travel by car. But the poor and middle class people who travel by state transport buses and trains have been completely ignored,” the NCP leader said adding that there was an expectation of increasing the payout under the Laadki Bahin Yojana from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100.
