The Vanrai police have booked three persons after a box containing springs, nuts and bolts of an aircraft worth Rs 1.43 crore from Goregaon-based warehouse was found missing.
According to the police, an aeronautical company had ordered spare parts for the aircraft from Dubai last year. The consignments–31 boxes containing springs, nuts and bolts were brought to India in November 2024. The consignments came through cargo sections at Sahar, Andheri by a courier service and were delivered in the company’s warehouse situated in Goregaon (East) and was supposed to be sent to Lucknow.
“It was found that QR codes of 30 boxes were scanned and sent to Lucknow. While one box was found to be missing. The incident took place in November last year,” said a police officer. Once the matter was reported to the police, the Vanrai police conducted an investigation and registered FIR against three persons, Hariom Prajapati, Deepak Pandey and Rohan Parab who were allegedly involved in handling and ferrying the consignment from cargo to warehouse and from warehouse to the destination, added official. They are booked under sections 316(2), 316(3), 316(4), 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
The value of spare parts was Rs 1.43 crore. During checks, it was learnt that Hariom Prajapati and Rohan Parab were allegedly involved in handling the consignment without e-bill and unloaded the spare parts at the courier company’s warehouse. It is also alleged that Deepak Pandey allegedly unloaded the spare parts in the warehouse despite the barcode and later it was noticed that one box weighing 37 kilograms containing spare parts of the aircraft went missing. No one has been arrested yet. Further investigation is going on, added the official.
