Reminding Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he batted for clean administration, Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA and former minister Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday demanded the ouster of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde and a probe by the EOW or ED after the MMRDA scrapped the tender process of two mega infrastructure projects following the Supreme Court’s intervention.
“I was the first one to raise concerns over this tender. With MMRDA scrapping the tender, it has been confirmed there were irregularities and the project was pushed ahead, with an eye on elections. It was done when Shinde was the chief minister and also the urban development minister. If the present chief minister is serious about his claim of clean administration, then there has to be an inquiry by ED or EOW,” Thackeray said.
The Sena (UBT) leader said for an impartial inquiry, Shinde, who still holds the urban development portfolio, must be removed from the department.
Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal demanded a judicial probe into the tendering process. “Wasn’t it Megha Engineering which allegedly gave money to the BJP through electoral bonds and won this contract? The issue will not end by scrapping tender. There is a bigger issue of corruption that needs a thorough judicial probe,” he said.
