The NCP (SP) will hold a meeting of its elected MLAs on Sunday afternoon to appoint the group leader. This will be the party’s first meeting after the results of the Maharashtra Assembly polls in which the Opposition was routed. The NCP (SP) managed to win only 10 seats.
Sharad Pawar will chair the meeting of MLAs where he will also take feedback from the elected candidates and is likely to guide them on legislative functioning in view of the mammoth majority won by the ruling Mahayuti.
Four days ago, Pawar held a meeting with the party’s defeated candidates where a number of them raised suspicion about the polling process. Based on the feedback, Pawar had assured the candidates to extend all necessary legal help to pursue the case with the Election Commission of India and courts. Pawar had also directed the candidates to start collecting evidence.
