Dadar girl alleges kidnap,police sceptical

According to Shraddha,she had ventured outside her house on Sunday afternoon to dispose garbage when some men who were sitting in a parked Tata Sumo called her and asked for directions to some address which they were apparently not able to locate. “When she went near the vehicle,the three men allegedly dragged her in and sprayed some liquid on her face,which caused her to lose consciousness and she fainted. When she gained consciousness,she discovered that she had been brought to Virar and found herself tied to a tree with the vehicle parked nearby in an isolated place,” said Sankhe.

Feigning unconsciousness,Surve allegedly heard the three men discussing how she should be killed as revenge for Bobby landing in jail. After some time,she managed to flee from the spot and escaped. She filed a complaint at the Virar police station.

Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Mane of the Virar police station said: “The girl had come to our police station and she told us about her kidnapping and subsequent escape. However,when we went to the spot where she claimed she had been tied up,we found no traces of anything. She was later sent to her place at Prabhadevi and the case was transferred to the Dadar police station as the kidnapping had occurred there.”

Though the Dadar police have registered a case of abduction against three unidentified youths on the basis of Shraddha’s complaint,they are sceptical about the entire episode. A police official from the investigation team said on conditions of anonymity: “The girl’s statements are confusing. She claims to have been kidnapped on Sunday afternoon from a crowded place like Prabhadevi without anyone noticing this incident,which sounds very fictional. Moreover,her description of the way she escaped from the clutches of the kidnappers also seems fictitious. We are also considering the possibility that she must have made up this story to add to the charges against Bobby.”
