In an effort to monitor technical institutes across the state, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has organised a principals conference later this month. As part of the conference, each institution is required to submit a case study or its success story highlighting its performance.
The prime focus is not just on curriculum development but the assessment criteria also include topics like industry institute interaction, faculty development, internal revenue generation, external funding, students performance and alumni association. The data to be given should cover the institutes performance over the last three years.
We see alumni connection as a strong basis for evaluation of an educational institution too as they are able to generate funds. Hence we have asked colleges about how many times they conduct alumni meetings, said SK Mahajan, director,DTE. The performance criteria include introduction of latest technology, cycle of revision, theory to practical ratio etc. besides industrial visits and industry expert visits, number of memorandum of understandings signed with the industry etc. among others.
In keeping with upcoming trends in colleges and other institutes, the DTE has also introduced the aspect of personality development in the students performance category. We also want to know how many institutes have faculty members with M Tech or PhD degrees and also about foreign countries visited for seminars and workshops, added Mahajan.
