State wants Sachin as tourism brand ambassador

The state government has urged cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to be its tourism brand ambassador,with 2011 planned as “tourism year”. Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal wrote to Tendulkar Wednesday,pointing out Amitabh Bachchan’s role for Gujarat,Aamir Khan’s for Indian Tourism Development Corporation and MS Dhoni’s for Jharkhand. Bhujbal said he met his party chief Sharad Pawar,president of the International Cricket Council,with a request to convince Tendulkar.
