The Central Railway will operate a series of special trains from Mumbai and Solapur divisions on October 22 to manage increased passenger demand during the Diwali and Chhath Puja.
The additional services are aimed at providing relief to passengers travelling towards northern and southern India.
In the Mumbai division, five special trains will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).
Train number 01031 CSMT–Banaras Special will leave at 7.35 am with halts at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Manikpur and Prayagraj Chheoki.
The 01047 CSMT–Danapur Special will depart at 3 pm, while the 01079 CSMT–Gorakhpur Special will leave at 10.30 pm, connecting passengers to major destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
From Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, 01143 LTT–Danapur Special will depart at 10.30 am and 01051 LTT–Banaras Special at 12.15 pm.
Both trains will halt at Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Bhusaval and other key junctions along the route.
Under the Solapur division, four festival specials will operate from Latur and Kalaburagi.
The 01429 Latur–Hadapsar Special will depart at 9.30 am, halting at Harangul, Murud, Kurduwadi and Daund. From Kalaburagi, 06210 Kalaburagi–Bengaluru Cantonment Special will leave at 10.45 am, followed by 01422 Kalaburagi–Daund Unreserved Special at 4.10 pm and 01452 Kalaburagi–Kolhapur Special at 6.10 pm.
The last service will connect key cities including Solapur, Pandharpur and Miraj.
“Passengers are requested to avail these special train services and travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience,” said Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, in an official statement.
Bookings for all festival special trains are currently open at computerized reservation centres and on the IRCTC website.
