Amid ongoing engineering degree admissions in Maharashtra, if a candidate manages to bag a seat in the desired branch or college during the ongoing institution-level and management quota admissions, he/she will be able to easily cancel already secured admission through a link provided in individual login, until the last day of admissions. If a candidate cancels the admission by September 13, he/she will get a full refund of the fees paid. However, in case of cancellations after that, they won’t be entitled to a full refund.

After completion of Common Admission Process (CAP) rounds for engineering degree admissions, institution-level and management quota admissions have begun from September 8, which will continue until September 15. With the beginning of the institution-level round, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has issued a separate notification providing clear guidelines.

According to the notice issued by the CET Cell, candidates seeking admission through the institute-level quota should apply directly to the respective institutions. Candidates who could not apply directly to the institutions for admission through the institute-level quota were provided with an option form on the CET portal for the same.

A list of students who have filled out the option form on the CET portal for institute-level admissions will be made available in the login of the respective institutions. Institutions must consider both – applications received directly at the institution, and the CET Cell-provided list of students who submitted option forms on the portal – to prepare a combined merit list based on inter-se merit. This merit list must then be published on the institution’s official website.

The same notification also provides clarity on the admission cancellation policy. “The link for cancelling admission will be available in the student’s login until the final admission date (cut-off date). If the admission is cancelled within the specified deadline during the academic term, all fees will be refunded,” states the notification.

An official from the CET Cell explained, “Students who cancel the admission within a specified date end up paying only the processing fee. However, cancellation is allowed until the last day, but those cancelling after the specified date will not get a full refund of the fees. This is considering the fact that such last-minute cancellations could result in vacant seats in the said college as no admission is allowed after the cut-off date.”

According to the admission schedule available on the website of the CET Cell, the admission cut-off date is September 15.
