Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is set to embark on a whirlwind tour of four assembly constituencies on July 22 to capitalise on the growing response to the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana across the state.

During the tour, Pawar will attend four meetings on the scheme.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state chief Sunil Tatkare stated on Thursday that the Ladki Bahin Yojana aims to bring a transformative change to the lives of women in Maharashtra.

“The Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme is very close to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s heart. He is committed to engaging directly with women to help them understand the process of filling out forms and accessing the benefits of the scheme,” Tatkare said.

The scheme is designed to economically empower women, granting them independence to make crucial decisions for their families.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has already claimed credit for the scheme. The NCP, through its women outreach programme, is working to connect with female voters ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

On Monday, Ajit Pawar will visit the assembly constituencies of Parner, Ahmednagar, Shrigonda, and Karjat, where he will interact with local women. The scheme benefits women aged 21 to 65, providing a monthly financial aid of Rs 1,500 directly to their bank accounts.

When asked if the tour is focused on assembly segments contested by the NCP, Tatkare clarified that the party will participate in the elections as part of the Mahayuti alliance. He added, “The Jan Samvad Yatra is a separate campaign initiative. These are parallel programs, and we will conduct similar outreach campaigns in various districts.”
