A day after Newsline reported about the inconvenience caused to Mumbaikars because of simultaneous civic works undertaken by the BMC, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray posted on his Facebook page that the works are on schedule and assured Mumbaikars of “better roads and civic amenities” in the coming months.
The Thackeray scion had conducted a visit along with Mayor Snehal Ambekar and BMC officials to various spots where work was being undertaken on Tuesday night.
He wrote on his Facebook page, “Mumbai is a vast city of 1900 km of roads coming under various jurisdictions.no problem can be solved over night, and I am aware of the inconvenience caused as of now, but I do assure you (Mumbaikars) better roads and civic amenities wherever there is work going on.” He also mentioned that the work in Nariman Point, Breach Candy, Parel and Wadala was going at a rapid pace. He also said he will be visiting the spots again in January to review the progress. This is Thackeray’s fourth visit in the year. During the previous visit last month, Thackeray was accompanied by the Mayor.
The BMC has taken up large-scale road trenching works this year with over 300 roads in the city either being concretised or given a new layer of asphalt, or for utility laying. Further heavy machinery and the presence of a huge number of workers is crippling traffic on stretches all across Mumbai.
