The Mumbai police on Friday arrested a 26-year-old man from Nashik for illegally streaming the movie Chhava—based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Shivaji Maharaj—through an internet link.
Previously, a man from Pune had been arrested for uploading the movie on his website and charging money for the same.
The Mumbai police had been investigating the case after producers of the movie had given a written complaint that pirated copies of the movie were circulating on the internet, due to which they were facing losses.
A police officer said among the fake links reported by the complainant, the link moviesprime.xyz was technically traced to one Vivek Snehal Dhumal, a resident of Datta Metric Company Colony, Mumbai Naka in Nashik.
It was revealed during investigation that he had purchased the domain moviesprime.xyz from Hostinger to upload the movie Chhava. Further, it was also found that he was streaming Chhava and other newly released films.
