The Punjab Technical Universitys youth festival (south zone) commenced at the auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College on Friday.
As many as 30 colleges are participating in the festival.
The students of the college presented a soulful rendition of shabad. Jagdev Singh Jassowal graced the occasion and exhorted the students to take forward the torch of cultural renaissance.
Vineet Joshi,media advisor to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,was the guest of honour. Joshi recalled the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh,Rajguru and Sukhdev,and motivated the students to free India from the evils of corruption,illiteracy,foeticide and intoxicants.
Dr S M Kant,adviser (culture and youth),PTU,said youth festivals provide a forum to the students to communicate their intrinsic talents through various mediums. The students drawn from various engineering and management colleges of Fatehgarh,Ludhiana,Sangrur and Patiala districts are participating in as many as two dozen events including folk dances,music,drama,mono acting,skits,debates,elocution and poetry recitation.
