It was dull day for Chandigarh players as Nishchay Rawal and Ajay Yadav bowed out in the quarterfinal in the boys’ Under-16 and Under-18 categories in the AITA Super Series Championship being played at Harvest Tennis Academy on Wednesday. Rawal’s challenge was ended by sixth seed Rishab Dev of Punjab who scored a 7-6 (5),6-4 win while Ajay Yadav was defeated by Kumal Anand of Delhi with a 6-4,1-6,7-6 (1) win. In the boys’ Under-16 quarterfinals,seventh seed Bhavneet Singh of Delhi created an upset when he defeated top seed Harry Jindal of Punjab 6-1,6-3. It was easy going for Maninder Singh of Delhi as he scored a 6-4,6-1 win over Kamal Kishore Maderena of Rajasthan. In the girls’ U-16 category,top seed Rimpledeep of Punjab stormed into the semifinals with an easy 6-1,6-0 win over eighth seed Priyanka Rawat of Uttrakhand. Fifth seed Shreya Pasricha also paved her way into the semifinals with a 6-3,7-5 win over Bhavika wadhawan of Delhi while third seed Rajbir Kaur of Punjab ended the challenge of seventh seed Anukriti Choudhary of Delhi with a 6-4,7-5 win.
