Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will on Monday kickstart the BJP’s campaign for the local urban civic body elections from west Uttar Pradesh by addressing a public meeting each in Saharanpur, Amroha and Shamli districts.
The two-phase elections will start from May 4.
The CM will first address a meeting at a college in Saharanpur, seeking reelection of outgoing BJP mayor Ajay Kumar Singh.
BJP’s Saharanpur district unit president Mahendra Saini said, “Though there is no contest against the BJP candidates here, the CM’s visit will enthuse the party workers and the people of Saharanpur. He will address the gathering for 50 minutes.”
Then the CM will fly in a chopper to the adjoining Shamli district to address a meeting at a college there. “Shamli is not new for the CM as he has been visiting the district at regular intervals. We are set to win the upcoming elections to ensure that the state gets the benefit of a triple-engine government — from the Centre to the civic body level,” said cabinet minister Suresh Rana.
In the evening, Adityanath will address the last meeting of the day on the Police Lines grounds in Amroha district. “This is after a long time that we will be meeting the CM and his visit will energise the grassroots party workers. We are sure of a landslide victory in the local polls,” said Amroha district unit Rishipal Nagar.
“We have made all preparations for the CM’s visit,” said Amroha Superintendent of Police Aditya Langhe.
