UP honour killingPolice said they had taken the woman’s father Pushpendra Singh into custody and sent the bodies for a postmortem.

In a case of honour killing, a 19-year-old man and his girlfriend were killed by her family members after they allegedly found them together at her home in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district early on Sunday.

Police said they had taken the woman’s father Pushpendra Singh into custody and sent the bodies for a postmortem.

According to the police, Balram Kataria, a resident of Sadakpur Jonmana village in Baghpat, had an affair with Shrishti Singh, 18, of the same village for the last two years, but her family members were not aware of this.

Early on Sunday morning, Kataria went to Singh’s home, where the two opted for an empty room. Her family members grew suspicious, apprehending a stranger in the house, and found them together.

They beat both of them and allegedly strangled them with a rope in the same room.

“We rushed to the spot following the double murder. The FIR has been lodged with Kotwali, Baraut, police station by family members of the deceased. The father of the woman is in our custody while our investigation continues, after which formal arrests of those involved in the twin murders will be made,” said Arpit Vijayvargiya, Superintendent of Police, Baghpat.
