India under-19 teams vice captain Akshdeep Nath feels that Indian teams performance in the U-19 Asia Cup at Malaysia has boosted the players morale further ahead of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Just after half-an-hour of reaching his home at Lucknow on Tuesday,Nath left for the LDA Stadium here to practise with the trainees there. With the trainees having gone to play in a match,he capitalised on the opportunity of taking some tips from his coach Gopal Singh. Akshdeep who on Tuesday was named vice-captain for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup also, said,Obviously,it is an added responsibility but instead of taking pressure,I am enjoying it. To bring further improvement in my performance,I intend to practise harder. I will be going to the stadium tomorrow again.
Akshdeep said the Under-19 Asia Cup helped the team in any shortcomings that existed. It was the last tournament before the Under-19 World Cup. May be,in the time left we can improve on the middle-order batting. Pakistan was the main opposition in the tournament as it is a consistent side in Asia and I am happy that we played well against Pakistan. In April,India had triumphed in the quadrangular series in Australia defeating Australia in the final by seven wickets. The tour had given us an opportunity to get a feel of the pitches and the grounds there. So,I feel that India has the potential to win the under-19 World Cup to be held at Australia next month. We had also emerged winner in the quadrangular series held last year in India which just shows that the team has been performing consistently. After the tie against Pakistan in the U-19 Asia Cup we felt disappointed. For some time after the final, you should seen our faces…as though we had lost the tourney. This just shows the eagerness to win tournaments, he added.
