Rahul’s Amethi visit sees protests for second day

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Amethi was marred by protests for the second consecutive day on Friday even as he promised to carry out major changes in the organisational set up following shockingly dismal performance of the party in the Nehru-Gandhi pocket borough during this year’s Assembly polls.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Amethi was marred by protests for the second consecutive day on Friday even as he promised to carry out major changes in the organisational set up following shockingly dismal performance of the party in the Nehru-Gandhi pocket borough during this year’s Assembly polls.

Delay in construction of an overbridge led the residents of Chitkapur and Radheypur villages to raise slogans before Munshiganj guest house,where the Amethi MP has been staying. Rahul met the protesting residents assured them that the project will be completed soon.

Later in the day,activists of Bhartiya Kisan Union’s women wing protested outside the party workers’ meeting in Jamo area shifting of army’s recruitment office.

Another delegation of farmers whose land is likely to be acquired for 40 km-long Jafrabad-Musafirkhana by-pass met Gandhi and handed over a memorandum against it.
