Two days after the BSP expelled mafia-turned MLA Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Afzal Ansari,the police conducted raids various places related to him and his gang in Ghazipur,Varanasi,Mau and Lucknow.
The Ghazipur Superintendent of Police (SP),Ravi Kumar Lokku said three of Ansaris close aides Tasauwwar alias Passu,a history-sheeter of City Kotwali,Ram Kishan Bind of Nandganj and Satyendra Singh alias Mashal Singh of Bhudkuda area were arrested on Monday. They were produced before the court in the evening and remanded in judicial custody.
Raids were conducted at Hotel Ghazal in Ghazipur city which is reportedly owned by Ansari and the houses of four of his gang members.
Lokku said: A police team led by Circle Officer (CO) of Jamaniya area,Harbhajan Arya also raided FI Towers near Burlington crossing in Lucknows Qaiserbagh,where Ansari reportedly owns a flat.
Arya said the buildings security staff and residents feigned ignorance about Ansaris flat. We will question the owner of the FI Towers to inquire about the owner of that particular flat.
We would also conduct search the house of Ansaris brother Afzal at Dalibagh area in Hazratganj later, the CO said. In Varanasi,SP (City) Vijay Bhushan said raids were conducted at the houses of Ansaris aides Pervez,Binu Pal and Vickey Khan. Besides,search was on at the houses of Vijay Jaiswal,Babu Rai and Atul Rai,the close aides of jailed mafia Brijesh Singh. The gangsters are absconding and the police failed to recover any suspicious items.
On Sunday evening,police conducted raids at the house of Brijeshs associate Sanjay Khalnayak in the Cantonment area,from where six weapons and a bullet-proof Scorpio vehicle were seized.
Sanjay,however,was absconding,Vijay Bhushan added.
