The short visit Chief Minister Mayawati paid to Gautam Budh Nagar seems to have led to a scramble among officials of various departments to get work — over which the CM reportedly expressed displeasure — finished.

After a surprise stopover in Gautam Budh Nagar on February 20,Mayawati had pulled up officials over the condition of the roads, the central verges and the lack of greenery along the roadsides. During her visit to the Sector-39 police station, she admonished police officers for the failing to regularly update the Thana Diwas register. She had also ordered for the transfer of senior police officers after expressing dissatisfaction over the law-and-order situation in the district. For the district hospital, she had asked the administration to get new tiles for the maternity ward for a cleaner look. “Renovation and fixing of new tiles in the maternity ward began a week ago at the district hospital,” said Meena Mishra,CMS,district hospital.

After her visit, the authorities concerned pulled up the officials for negligence, and a strategy was chalked out to improve infrastructure. The Noida Authority has now initiated three pilot road projects — MP-1 road (Rajni Gandha Sector-12-22-56 crossing),MP-2 road (Film City to Sector 60-61 crossing) and Udyog Marg.

N P Singh,DCEO,Noida Authority, said a pilot project has also been initiated for the proper maintenance of roads. Besides planting of shrubs on the roadsides, proper sewage and electricity systems would be put in place.
