Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav Sunday said that the Mughals, including Akbar and Babur, cannot be called “great” as they belonged to a family of invaders, not India. The minister said those who laid their lives to protect India and its culture should be called greats.
“Abkar (who was accorded the epithet “the Great”) belonged to a family of invaders and he did not belong to India. Hence, Babur and Akbar could not be great. The Mughals could not be great. Great are those who sacrificed their lives to protect their culture from them (Mughals) and become a source of inspiration,” said Yadav addressing a public meeting in the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency in Gonda district.

The minister was the chief guest at the rally. He is leading a three-member team of BJP leaders, who have been assigned a cluster of four Lok Sabha constituencies — Kaiserganj, Gonda, Sitapur and Bahraich — under the ‘Maha Sampark Abhiyan’.
Yadav said the information about Rani Durgavati and Rani Ahilyabai would be included in the academic syllabus and the education policy would be taken in that direction.
