The Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Saturday, November 22, launched a campaign against unlicensed dog walkers in several areas of Indira Nagar. Several dog owners were fined after they were found without a valid licence.

Rajesh Upadhyay, inspector at Lucknow Municipal Corporation, said the campaign was launched in the Zone 7 of Municipal Corporation of Lucknow after directions from the Municipal Commissioner and the Animal Welfare department head.

“Our goal is not to catch stray dogs or those walking without licenses or vaccinations, nor to collect revenue. Our main objective is to raise awareness among the public and encourage them to get their pets vaccinated on time. For your own safety and the safety of the public, obtain licenses and avoid fines,” he said. He further said fines were collected from two people on Saturday morning. “Some fled the scene; some argued and refused to comply,” he added.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation conducts such checking from time to time and it is an ongoing effort to get pets registered with the civic body.
