Kejriwal attacker threatens similar treatment to Anna

Jeetendra Pathak has threatened to give a “similar treatment’’ to Anna Hazare if he comes to UP without clearing his stand on Prashant Bhushan’s statement on Kashmir.

Jeetendra Pathak, the man who attacked Arvind Kejriwal with a shoe in Lucknow on Tuesday, has threatened to give a “similar treatment’’ to Anna Hazare if he comes to UP without clearing his stand on Prashant Bhushan’s statement on Kashmir, his opposition to the Congress, and Raj Thackeray’s campaign against north Indians.

Pathak, whom the police released late on Tuesday night after questioning, said Anna Hazare must clarify whether his campaign is against corruption or the Congress.

He said Anna Hazare ended his fast after the Prime Minister’s assurance that the Lokpal Bill would be passed in the winter session. “If Anna Hazare had no faith in the PM’s letter,he should have continued his fast,” Pathak said.

“After accepting the PM’s assurance, why did team Anna campaign against the Congress and release Anna Hazare’s taped message in Hisar?’’ he asked. “The campaign of team Anna has deviated from corruption to the Congress party,’’ he added.

Besides clarifying his position,Anna Hazare should demand registration of a case of sedition against Prashant Bhusan for demanding a plebiscite in Kashmir and demand lodging of a criminal case against Raj Thackeray for repeatedly targetting north Indians,Pathak said.

Pathak said he had been a member of the Congress Sewa Dal from 2006 to 2009. “Rahul Gandhi is my ideal but at present I am not associated with any political party,” he said.

A native of Jalaun district,Pathak resides in Patel Nagar area of Lucknow with his wife and eight-year-old daughter. He maintains accounts in the office of contractor. Expressing regret for attacking Kejriwal,Pathak said,“I was left with no option,I was not allowed to meet him. I had come to ask Kejriwal why team Anna was deviating from the anti-graft campaign.’’
