Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that India’s stature in the world has grown and that the country’s security — internal as well as external — has strengthened since the Narendra Modi-led BJP came to power at the Centre.

Addressing a press conference along with Union Minister Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri in Lucknow on the completion of nine years of the Modi government, the CM said that UP has got maximum benefits of the Centre’s welfare and infrastructure development programmes.

“We can see a new India after nine years. The ideas of that “new India” are based on four pillars — country’s respect, internal and external security, welfare of poor, and infrastructure development. Curiosity for India has grown among people across the world because of PM Modi. The whole world is attracted to the PM’s visionary leadership,” he claimed.

Under Modi’s leadership, the country has come with a new model of services, good governance and welfare of poor, he added.

The country’s borders, he said, are completely secure. “Internal security too has improved — be it Jammu & Kashmir, states of the north-east or areas affected by naxal and Maoist violence. The governant has successfully controlled extremism, separatism and terrorism. A sense of new hope and confidence has arisen in the country in terms of security,” he claimed.

“India presently has world-class infrastructure to meet the needs of its 140 crore citizens. In 70 years after Independence, only 74 airports were constructed but additional 74 were built in just nine years,” Adityanath said.

The Jan Dhan Yojana, he further claimed, was the biggest attack on corruption and the people of Uttar Pradesh benefitted from it the most as the state opened over 8.5 crore bank accounts under the scheme.

As a result of this, the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system was implemented, thus ensuring that funds from various schemes reach the poor, farmers and labourers, he said.

The state’s farmers benefited maximum from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme while more than 54 lakh underprivileged people were provided a house under the PM Awas Yojana in the past nine years, the CM said.

Union minister Puri, who made a presentation to highlight the achievements of the Modi government’s nine-year tenure, claimed that the works done during this period are unprecedented since India’s Independence.

He pointed out as how the government dealt with challenges faced during the pandemic and the way it strengthened the healthcare sector, including vaccine manufacturing. India will be the third-largest economy in the next couple of years as its GDP is likley to reach $28 trillion by 2040, he aded. He emphasised that not only airports are becoming world-class, but railway stations are also being rejuvenated.
