A 48-year-old head constable in the Uttar Pradesh police was fatally stabbed by his minor son on Wednesday evening in Bulandshahr after he refused to give the boy the key of their car.

The police have detained the boy and handed over his father’s body to their family after a postmortem. The deceased head constable was posted in the vigilance cell of the UP Power Corporation Limited in Bulandshahr.

“The minor is a Class 10 student at a prestigious school. He asked for the key of the car but the father refused, citing his age. This led to an altercation, during which the son picked up a knife and repeatedly stabbed the father on the chest,” said Shlok Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bulandshahr.

The police said the victim was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to injuries on his way to a hospital in Noida where he was referred to.

“We have detained the accused, but no legal action has been taken against him yet. The boy’s mother has not filed an FIR in this matter. We will proceed once we receive a complaint from her,” said Shankar Prasad, Superintendent of Police.

The boy’s mother is a teacher at a government school in Bulandshahr district.
