Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday held a meeting with officials to review the the law and order situation, relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas and the implementation of public welfare programmes in the state.
In the meeting with zonal, divisional, range and district-level officers, the CM instructed the police and local administration to remain vigilant around the clock in all the districts during the upcoming festival season.
Since the state will observe important events like Nag Panchami, Shravan Somvar, Rakshabandhan, Chehlum and Janmashtami besides the centenary celebrations of the Kakori train incident in the coming days, the period will be highly sensitive from the law and order point of view, he said.
Then the police recruitment examination will also be conducted and it will be the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that the test is conducted peacefully with complete transparency, he said.
Pointing out that the rainfall patterns across the state varied this year, the CM said 12 districts received over 120 percent of average rainfall while 27 districts witnessed normal rain. Eighteen districts received below-average rainfall (from 80 percent to 60 percent of average), while 14 recorded significantly low rainfall (from 40 percent to 60 percent), he said. Districts like Jaunpur, Shamli, and Fatehpur received less than 40 percent of the expected rainfall, it was claimed.
On the other hand, the districts of Ballia, Sitapur, Banda, Barabanki, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Prayagraj and Varanasi were still grappling with floods, he said. The relief and rescue operations in these districts must continue according to local needs to mitigate the impact of floods, the CM stressed.
With the centenary celebrations of the historic Kakori train incident beginning on Friday, the state is set to commemorate the heroes of the freedom struggle throughout the year, it was pointed out. As part of this, a statewide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign will be held from August 13 to 15, where the Tricolor will be hoisted at every residence and office across Uttar Pradesh, the CM said.
August 14 will be marked as the ‘Partition Horror Day’ and August 15 as Independence Day, he claimed.
Schools, colleges, NCC and NSS wings should involve people of all ages to make these events a celebration of national pride, the CM said. He announced that on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, women will get the facility of free travel in the state road transport corporation buses from August 18 night till August 19 night.
Necessary arrangements are being made for this, he added.
Be it a farmers’ organisation or any other group, their views should be heard in a democratic manner, he said.
