A day after the BJP swept the Assembly polls in three states, BSP Chief Mayawati termed the results ‘strange’. The BSP chief also said the results were “difficult to digest”.

It may be mentioned that the BSP won only two seats in Rajasthan in the recently concluded elections and saw its vote share plummet in all four states – Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh – where votes were counted Sunday.

“It is natural for people to be doubtful, surprised, and worried over one-sided results in favour of one party… Considering the atmosphere of the elections, it is tough for people to digest such strange results.”

She went on to say that while it seemed that the results would be neck and neck, the picture changed completely after the counting of votes started. Terming the results ‘mysterious’, she said the matter required serious thinking and a solution.

In a message to her party leaders, Mayawati said they gave the elections their all but they should not be disappointed by the ‘strange’ results.

Taking inspiration from the life of Bhimrao Ambedkar, BSP workers should continue to make attempts to forge ahead, Mayawati added.

The BSP chief said, “An all-India level meeting of the party will be convened in Lucknow on December 10 to discuss the ground report and further prepare for Lok Sabha elections.”

Taking the pledge to propel the Ambedkarite movement, Mayawati said, “Despite the election results, the Ambedkarite movement will never lose the courage to move forward.”
