BJP hires train to ferry crowd for Modi’s Jhansi rally

The BJP has booked a 20-coach special train to ferry 7,000 workers from Chitrakoot and Banda districts for Narendra Modi's rally in Jhansi.

The BJP has booked a 20-coach special train to ferry 7,000 workers from Chitrakoot and Banda districts for its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi\’s rally in Jhansi.

The aim is to match the turnout at Modi’s Kanpur rally.

The party has paid Rs 17 lakh to book the train. Of this,Rs 12 lakh is the fare while the rest is security deposit and refundable.

The train,named “Narendra Modi Express”,is scheduled to leave Manikpur railway station in Chitrakoot Thursday evening and reach Jhansi Friday early morning.

North Central Railway’s (NCR) Jhansi Division Public Relation Officer (PRO) Ravi Prakash confirmed,“A separate train will run from Chitrakoot to Jhansi on the demand of BJP. The party has booked the 20-coach train on Full Tariff Rate (FTR),which means no concession has been given.”

The PRO also said additional coaches will be added in other passenger trains to accommodate more BJP workers.

BJP’s Chitrakoot district president Jai Vijay Singh said,“Rs 17 lakh has been been paid with contributions from party workers. We had to book the train as sufficient buses are not available here.”

Singh said the train will halt at half-a-dozen places between Chitrakoot and Banda districts to pick workers for the Jhansi rally.

Singh added nearly 500 workers will take other regular trains to reach Jhansi and party\’s district unit will pay for their tickets.

Another local leader said the party aims at carrying at least 11,000 people from Chitrakoot.

“Nearly 7,000 party workers will go Jhansi via this special train. The party has arranged 150 vehicles to ferry people for Jhansi,” Singh said.

BJP\’s Bundelkhand region president Babu Ram Nishad said,“While a train has been booked from Chitrakoot,more than 200 buses and other vehicles have been hired to ferry workers and public from other districts including Lalitpur,Banda,Mahoba,Jalaun,Lalitpur and Hamirpur.”
