Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government has never believed in the “politics of appeasement” and has focused on the development of all.

Apart from Moradabad, Adityanath addressed meetings in three other districts – Varanasi, Pratapgarh and Jaunpur – on Monday. The urban local body polls are slated to be held in Uttar Pradesh in two phases on May 4 and 11 with the counting on May 13.

Adityanath made the statement while addressing a public meeting in Moradabad district where he campaigned for BJP candidates ahead of the urban local body polls.

“The BJP government has never believed in the politics of appeasement. All previous governments used to take care of a particular community but we made sure that there was development of all. We want to speed up the process of development four-fold and now you all are living in a safe and secure Uttar Pradesh,” the CM said, adding that his government focused on raising the living standard of people.

Talking about Moradabad’s famous brass industry, Adityanath said, “The brass industry in Moradabad was witnessing a downturn. The artisans were migrating. But today, Moradabad’s brass industry is achieving new glory under our government. Exports have increased and the industry is now more well known internationally.”

Citing the example of local brass artisan Dilshad Hussain, Adityanath said that even the President and the Prime Minister recognised his accomplishments. The CM said that the PM had also presented Hussain’s artwork to the Chancellor of Germany.

The CM hit out at the opposition parties and said that there was “no mafia raj” in Uttar Pradesh now. “Now there is no ‘mafia raj’ in UP. No extortion or kidnapping for ransom takes place. The common man is safe in the state, and mafia and goons who used to proudly wander on the streets are now begging for mercy with placards around their necks,” he said.

Later during the day, he also addressed a public meeting in Varanasi, which is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the meeting, the chief minister said the PM had created an
“atmosphere of trust” in the country.

“PM Modi represents not just Varanasi but the entire Uttar Pradesh across the country. In the last nine years, the benefits of development works have reached all without any discrimination,” he added. Calling Varanasi the “spiritual and cultural centre” of the country, the CM said, “The PM’s vision is our mission. The BJP-led double engine government is dedicatedly working towards the development of the country and its people.”

Expressing confidence in BJP’s mayoral candidate Ashok Tiwari’s victory, Adityanath told the gathering that Tiwari had got blessings of both “Baba Vishwanath” as well as the PM Narendra Modi.

In Pratapgarh, the CM hit out at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati without taking their names and said, “Development became stagnant and there criminal activities were on the rise in the Pratapgarh, which was known for its cultivation of amla (gooseberry)…the district was famous for its amla cultivation and the Auto Tractor Limited factory.

The factory was shut down and the people also stopped growing gooseberries during previous governments.”

Adiatyanath added that his government had included gooseberries under the ‘One District One Product’ scheme which has benefited the farmers in the district.

Citing the development works launched by his government, Adityanath said, “We are building four-lane highways between Ayodhya and Chitrakoot which will pass through Pratapgarh.

The Ganga Expressway between Meerut and Prayagraj will also pass through Pratapgarh. We have already opened a medical college in Pratapgarh.”
In Jaunpur, the chief minister said that his government has given tablets to the youth instead of “tamancha” (countrymade pistol) and claimed that many cities in the state have become ‘smart cities’.
